Brendan Smith, DDS, MS, is a board certified orthodontist skilled in all variations of braces and Invisalign®. At Freedom Orthodontics in Cedar Park, Texas, he is passionate about providing residents the freedom to smile in a personalized environment (which is why he opened his own practice and named it Freedom Orthodontics).
Dr. Smith received his bachelor’s degree in zoology at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He then completed dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, graduating cum laude. Afterward, Dr. Smith furthered his education with a general practice residency at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he gained experience treating medically compromised individuals and completed advanced training in all phases of dentistry. This experience cemented his desire to become an orthodontist.
After his residency in Hawaii, Dr. Smith completed his orthodontic residency at Columbia University in New York City. There, he completed an additional three years of education, was co-president of the orthodontic class, and trained in all areas of orthodontics, including early interceptive, adolescent, adult, and surgical orthodontic treatments. Upon graduation, Dr. Smith became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Smith previously lived in Texas and decided to return because he felt at home there. He practiced for five years in Midland, gaining experience in patient management, before relocating to Cedar Park with his wife, Tamara, to establish a permanent home.
Dr. Smith’s dream was always to own his own practice so he could provide the highest quality of care. This way, he can manage patient care from start to finish without the corporate pressure to cut costs. His father’s medical career taught him to always put the patient’s welfare and needs first, and this value has driven his treatment philosophy, with every patient receiving the same detail and respect regardless of their background or circumstances.
Dr. Smith loves seeing the effect a beautiful smile has on his patients both young and old. He believes a confident smile can change the direction of any life to a happier course through one’s self-esteem and personality. Ultimately, “letting your smile to set you free."
